The Greer County Sheriff's Office received funding through a Victims of Crime Act grant to employ a full-time Victim Service Advocate to assist and support victims of crime in our county. Our Victim Service Specialist can provide advocacy that may include:
Victim Rights - As a victim of a crime, pursuant to the Oklahoma Constitution Article 2, ยง 34, you have certain rights.
Crime Victims Compensation Program - The purpose of the Crime Victims Compensation Act is to provide a method of compensation for victims of violent crime. All funds come from federal and state offenders through fines and penalty assessments. An arrest of the offender does NOT have to take place in order to be eligible to file a claim; however, the victim and/or claimant is expected to fully cooperate in the apprehension, investigation, and prosecution of the perpetrator. The claimant is also expected to fully cooperate with the District Attorney's Office and Victims Compensation Board staff during the processing of the claim.
VINELink - To receive electronic updates about the custody status of an offender held in a county jail or the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, visit the VINELink website at https://vinelink.vineapps.com/state/OK/ENGLISH or download the app on your smartphone in the iTunes or Google Play store, just search VINELink.
