The Greer County Sheriff’s Office has announced that they are the recipient of the Oklahoma Attorney General’s “Safe Oklahoma Grant” for 2024 in the amount of $24,586.70. The grant money will fund the cost of upfitting patrol vehicles with new iPads and cases along with the necessary mounting brackets. The grant money will also provide funding for Geosafe, an easy-to-use GPS tracking and CAD integration system for police, fire, and EMS.

The GeoSafe system will allow our dispatch personnel to track each deputy in real time in order to send the closest available deputy to calls for service. However, this system will not be limited to county deputies. “Integrating the GeoSafe system is something I’ve wanted to do for two years now. This resource will be great for all of our first responders in Greer County. My plan is to allow every law enforcement, fire and EMS agency in the county to utilize this system at no cost to them.”

This is the first year the Greer County Sheriff’s Office filed for the grant. The Safe Oklahoma Grants are very beneficial to increasing the efficiency and safety of the Greer County Sheriff’s Office and ultimately increasing the safety of the citizens of Greer County. The Sheriff’s Office will begin implementation of the grant in January 2024, and anticipates having it fully in place by February 2024.
